Platform support
Which operating systems and architectures Gray runs on, how each binary is built, and what native Windows does not support yet.
| OS / arch | Binary | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Linux x86_64 · aarch64 | musl-static | fully supported; systemd user service or runit |
| macOS arm64 · x86_64 | Rust-static, not notarized | curl installs run fine; browser downloads may hit Gatekeeper |
| Windows 11 x86_64 | native | Git Bash supplies the shell |
Native Windows
- —Self-update is refused — rerun the installer.
- —The gateway and cron execution are unsupported and refused explicitly; jobs can still be managed as files.
- —Credential and transcript files use standard user-profile permissions and are not ACL-hardened.
- —
-Wslinstalls the Linux build inside WSL instead, for everything above.
Stability
At 1.0 a stability contract covers CLI flags, the session JSONL schema, plugin wire v1 and the ~/.gray layout; on 0.x these are best-effort. The TUI and internal crate APIs are not covered. Per-release changes are in the changelog.
